ABPROJECT SPACE
Founded in 2014 by a team of passionate space enthusiasts and young engineers, ABProject Space set out with a bold mission: to democratize access to near-space research and suborbital launches. From our earliest days, we believed that cutting-edge aerospace technology should be within reach of students, universities, research institutions, and small businesses.
Our core team composed of recent graduates in aerospace engineering, computer science, and data analytics combined fresh ideas with hands-on expertise. In those first years, we collaborated on high-altitude balloon launches, developed prototype payloads for environmental monitoring, and built our first generation of CubeSats. Every success and every setback taught us valuable lessons about reliability, cost-efficiency, and the importance of rigorous testing.
Today, ABProject Space is still driven by that same youthful energy. We’ve grown into a trademarked Italian company with a portfolio that includes:
High-Altitude Balloon Services – AI-enabled, low-cost stratospheric launches for environmental sensing, IoT connectivity, and educational outreach.
PAYLOAD Development – Custom containers and sensors, all proudly made in Italy, capable of withstanding near-space conditions and returning intact every time.
Suborbital Sounding Rockets (LEONARD-1) – A two-stage, reusable platform that flies parabolic trajectories up to 100 km, carrying up to 30 kg of science experiments or prototype satellites.
Nanosatellite Constellation – In-orbit Earth monitoring for disaster response, atmospheric sensing, and experimental research, powered by our own onboard AI algorithms.
Although we’ve matured into a professional organization, we remain a young, agile team at heart. Innovation is in our DNA: we host hackathons for students, mentor high-school STEM projects, and continuously iterate on our hardware and software designs. Our office—located in the heart of Italy’s aerospace corridor—is a lively hub where engineers, data scientists, and business developers work side by side.
At ABProject Space, we measure our success not just by rockets launched or satellites in orbit, but by the new ideas we enable. Whether it’s a university lab testing a novel sensor, a startup validating a space-qualified component, or a high school team experiencing their first launch, we’re committed to supporting the next generation of space explorers. Join us on our journey as we continue to push the boundaries of what small, dedicated teams can achieve in the final frontier.
We believe that space technology has the power to transform everyday life and enhance business performance. By offering smart, forward-thinking solutions, we help our clients make the essential technological leap into the future—streamlining their workflows, boosting efficiency, and strengthening their competitive edge.
Through continuous research efforts, a multidisciplinary in-house team, and strategic partnerships with both national and international organizations, we deliver expert support across a wide range of applications. In addition, we are passionate about outreach: sharing our knowledge and hands-on experience with students at schools and universities.
In 2016, our team supported Astronaut Paolo Nespoli’s training for his final ISS mission at the European Astronaut Centre in Cologne. During the same year, our CEO Antonino Brosio served as scientific advisor for the Italian Space Agency’s feature‐length film “Expedition,” directed by Alessandra Bonavina.
It was a wonderful experience that introduced us to the aerospace community and connected us with leading experts and institutions.
